Keepers from Shoeburyness head west along the coast to PL1 Goalkeeping Academy on Eastwoodbury Lane — roughly twenty minutes from East Beach and the old Garrison, past the seafront and airport.
Shoeburyness anchors the far-east end of Southend, from Gunners Park and East Beach to the historic Garrison development. It is a growing community with plenty of young footballers and, until PL1, nowhere local for a goalkeeper to specialise.
The trip is well worth it: PL1 gives Shoebury's number ones dedicated, position-specific coaching and a clear route through Academy and PRO towards academy football. Our UEFA/FA-qualified coaches have sent 25 keepers into professional clubs since 2018.

Our holiday camps are open to outfield players as well as keepers — every age, every ability. They run at the academy on Eastwoodbury Lane, about 20 minutes from Shoeburyness, 10am–3pm. Drop in for one date or come to them all.
